Markdowns! 'Cos it's cool to be pov

It's never been so cool as right now to admit you have no money. In an obvious backlash to the noughties bling-filled days of excess, suddenly it's all about being thrifty. I've had so many conversations with people lately who love to tell me about their low bank balance, spendthrift ways and need for a second casual job. These are people who used to not blink about dropping $300 on a top. They are ubertrendy people though, so maybe they're making it up just to keep up with the hipsters. Who knows? Anyway, if you actually are cool to the bone and have but a few spare $$$, you're in luck - shopping, especially online, has never been so cheap! With many stores offering 30% off and upwards (and not for a day or two like we do, but for at least a week; check NSO for all the latest codes), labels doing mega clearouts at warehouse sales and online (good news for those of us not in Syd or Melb) and department stores going more nuts than usual with offers, the shopaholics within us all can breathe a little easier...and pay the power bill on time.

So, we thought we might as well join in the fun, and from today will be marking down manically across the store (with the exception of the items we hold year-round)! One Teaspoon has been done - I'm talking all swimwear at $49, clothing from $25 - Dolly Rockers is now at 50% off (prices from just $15 for amazing handmade, statement necklaces!) and French Kitty is priced to clear, with everything from $25 - $34. American Apparel is also reduced to clear and all under $29! There's not much left in previous season Blue Juice (first Winter onwards will stay full price as it's AWESOME and our best selling range!) but if you hurry you'll pick up an absolute steal, with most of it $69 and under!

Stay tuned for more throughout the week...!

30% off today only!

You knew it was coming - time for another famous Frock You sale, and this time it's a corker: 30% off one day only (Wednesday 11th November)! If you've got the newsletter, you've already got a rundown of the most awesome buys - for kids, this summer is F-rockin', for bubs, it's all about prints, and for ladies? The (hot, steamy) sky's the limit - go nuts with neutrals, stock up on basics, get your Chrissy party frocks and shoes sorted, or just pick up some damn cool tops and swan around knowing you are the shiz. Or whatever it is kids are saying these days. To whit:

(does that makes sense? It sounds much nicer than "'ere, check this out, like", anyway. Oh and these are pieces not in this week's newsletter, cos you know, you've probably already seen those. and stuff. Prices below include the 30% discount)

One Teaspoon April Rose Fringed Tank $55.96 this is a nice fresh mauve - and not mauve like your mum's eyeshadow in 1985, more like a girly, swirled, pretty mauve in a loose fitting tank with fringing. Typically One Teaspoon (though that is a juxtaposition) it's so up-to-the-minute it's in a different time zone. One Teaspoon are not followers, they do their own thang and they do it with flair.

GRAB Button Through Stripe Top $48.96 this is a super cool piece you can throw on for casual days when you don't want to be a total dag, but can't really be arsed dressing up. Plus, it's stripey. It's kinda cropped and loose and lovely, so we've popped it over the GRAB Foil Jersey Seam Tank $27.96 which comes in a gorgeous peach shade (again, not peach circa 1983. We hope).

Sunny Girl Jewelled Dress $48.96 A fab party option, it's a new take on the LBD and has cute gemstone (well, plastic beads) detailing on the sides. Detachable straps mean you can have extra support if you need it, or you can go strapless and add a nice sheeny moisturiser or faux glow. Remember body glitter and stuff in the late 90's? I do. I loved it. And I have a tub of it I'm busting to use again - I found it for my Tinkerbell costume for Halloween. The early 90's have come around again, so surely the late 90's will be next? OMG will Britney be retro? But anyway, cute dress. And a bargain!

For the under-2's, onesies are so darn awesome - team them with chubby legs and cute little soft shoes and watch old ladies everywhere go "aaaw!". This 'sweet' print by Itch ($24.46) is a winner - bright, original and uber cute, you won't even notice food stains on this one!

And the over 2's can look suitably cool and brooding - let yer tshirt say it all, man. The Dragstar Tshirt by Munster ($27.96), teamed with skate shorts and a wicked hat, will rock the playground. And possibly the Kasbah.

Mid-season Markdowns!

The retail world at the moment is something of a bargain hunter's paradise. I haven't paid full price for anything in Myer for yonks, if in fact ever. And now, it's mid-season for S/S '09/10, which means *trumpet fanfare* mid-season markdowns!

We've gone through and marked down previous season and 1st summer stock from nearly every label (plus if you sign up to the newsletter you get your extra member's 10% off!) and there are some seriously good buys to be had. So, without further ado here are 5 fabulous finds (note: must get sub editor):
Motel Heidi Dress now $69 this is an awesome party dress for the upcoming festive season - sweet but sexy, it only needs some killer heels to complete the look!
One Teaspoon Frilly Rose Shirt now $49.95 you'll see this look again next season so get in now! Team a floaty blouse with a pencil skirt for the office, with a statement shoulder jacket or a miliraty inspired vest for a cool contrast.
If you're heading to a summer festival, a super cool but not overly heavy pullover (did I just say pullover? Yes Nanna I did. Jumper? Sweater? Why am I having issues with this?) is a must-have for later in the evening. Plus, when winter comes round you can throw it on with jeans and boots for easy casual chic!
Freshbaked Check Shirts now $29.95 a checked shirt over a tee is classically cool - just roll up the sleeves when it's hot! Erm and no cowboy hats/boots please. Please.
Moppit Chloe Top now $29 this is so chic for little girls, and looks great teamed with tailored shorts for a dressier casual option. (Does that make sense? Maybe. Anyway. It's getting late. And Ladette to Lady is on shortly so let's wrap this up people). Not to take away from this garment. It's a proper little lady top in a gorgeous shade of green and thankfully has no random "cutie pie" print or other such atrocity (had a bad experience in Target the other day. So many pointless prints on tshirts.) Wow this has gotten long. Point is, this is a great alternative to a tshirt but slips on and off as easily and works with denim, looks like it costs more than it does, and has a chic designer edge. Score!

Check out the Sale section for all the new markdowns, and don't forget to browse through Last One Left to make sure you don't miss out on a must-have piece!

Frock You Autumn/Winter '09 Catalogue Sneaky Peek

It's been many long nights, cups of coffees and urgent phone calls in the making, but when Mat (yes, it's time to name and shame) stops planning his London trip and finishes the last bits'n'pieces of our inaugural, interactive e-catalogue, it'll be available for one and all in all it's glory. Here are some sneaky peek piccys (hint: this A/W is one of the best seasons ever. Recessionista-chic might be taking hold but it'll be easy to do with the clean lines, simple shapes and gorgeous detailing of these collections. Plus, one can never have enough coats. Ever.)

We shot the Country Weekend spread at Windleigh farm, in the late afternoon against a stunning background. Plus, it makes gumboots look damn cool. The idea is "ladylike charm" with lush knits, intricate details and rich textures. The above strapless dress by Motel is covered in red roses, looking striking with the simple black knit longline cardi by GRAB. The knit dress is also by GRAB and I have to admit I hated it at first, but then we put it in context and it has a real warmth (figuratively and literally), and super chic cut to it. I'll be putting my hand up for one!
The other piece everyone must have (welll, not everyone cos we won't stock six billion of them) is the Andriod denim trench below. It's super super super cool, classic yet modern, and one of those pieces people will stop you in the street to ask you where you got it.
The zip skirt is already instore here ($89.95) and if rock chic is your thang, this is definitely a must-have piece for your winter wardrobe. And you can wear it in summer, just ditch the tights! See, recessionista-shopping is as easy as that....the cute knit with it reminds me a little of a futuristic, Star Trek type piece, but is super soft and very delicate, making a cool contrast with the skirt. Anyway, it's about time fashion moved forward instead of rehashing old shapes. It will be available next week!
You may have noticed new winter stock hitting the store - new pieces will be added every day so check back. Hot sellers so far as the Lucky 13 Bandage Dress ($129.95_ which sold out of it's first run in a day but luckily lovely Irena at Lucky 13 expressed some more down to us, so we're all restocked, and One Teaspoon's 3/4 Holster Bodysuits, in grey or black - a fabulous basic for a streamlined silhouette and a bargain at $69.95!
Look out for more GRAB, French Kitty, Little Potty Red Shoes and Sunny Girl over the coming week!

Blog Apologies, and some new stuff

YES I know, I'm sorry, but if you had to climb over a challenging obstacle course of boxes, shoes, coat hangers and more boxes you wouldn't feel very motivated to type about random hobos at the supermarket. Although, speaking of, I think I might start a little sub blog "Adventures in Grocery Shopping" because the weird and wonderful world of the unflatteringly lit supermarket offes a myriad of observances into the human condition that no sidewalk cafe can rival. Anyway, as a slightly lazy form of compensation for the recent lack of bloggage (and I honestly didn't realise it was Wednesday until about 5 minutes ago, prompting a haphazrad scramble through this cardboard jungle to the computer desk) here's some pics of all the gorgeus new summer-y stuff you won't be able to wear for another few months, but you sure can buy it and hoard it safely til then:
Blue Juice's Noveau Riche Lush Coat is so elegant and really classy, but lightweight enough for a summer jacket (why it's "Lush" I dont know, it's gorgeous but not make of fur or anything. Hmm..) anyway if you regularly spill stuff on yourself or have rampaging toddlers with crayons this isn't the jacket for you, but damn its nice! The Euphoric Romance Denim Shorts are a great little short for summer, not heavy (remember Tencel? they feel like that!) and a versatile shade of rich blue that matches back easily with just about everything. Selling fast!!!
I don't even bother putting French Kitty in the newsletters anymore because it sells quicker than we can get it in, and if you're a bikini babe this is a classy and girly option which is incredibly cute!

GRAB's Mesh Tunic is one of those pieces you have to see and wear to really appreciate (which makes it odd for online shopping, I know, but I know you guys will suss it out!) when Laura was modelling it she didn't want to take it off. And I didn't want to wrestle her for it cos she's taller than me. Neither did Mat the photographer cos she's taller than him too. The short story is that it won't be this short on most mere mortals but you won't want to take it off either, it's so darn cool and really comfy!

Little Potty Red Shoes is one of our quiet achievers, but they produce some absolutely gorgeous pieces that always stand out. This Hollywood Smile skirt in bold, bright purple is a definite winner, the block colour makes it easy to work into your existing wardrobe and make a really eyecatching outfit without being too fussy. Also you can put it on when you're slightly tipsy and it won't matter cos it's the same front and back!

This is a really beautiful little piece by Living Doll, just the top for making you feel like donning a full skirt, dainty hat and sipping tea in the garden.....the print is a ripoff from somewhere but who cares, it's gorgeous (and cheap)! This is THE shoe of the summer (unless you want it in flat, in which case wait a few days until all the new SUNDAY range is on the site, Nude don't have a flat in this style) and it's so so comfy! I love a wedge (with sweet chilli especially) but as far as shoes go these are awesome for Spring under new season wideleg denim or pants, or for dressing up a pretty frock. I've been hanging out for them since I first saw them in March - the 6 month wait has been worth it!
Sunny Girl's one shouldered frock in black has sold through 5 times (yes FIVE times we've reordered and sold it all!) and this version in royal blue is the newest piece on the block to be causing waves - it's slinky, sexy and a beautifully flattering shade. Bring on the party season ladies!
One Teapsoon's new stuff is rocking the socks off everyone, especially the swimwear which is HOT to trot! It's been instore approximately 24 hours and thnkafully we've barely had to unpack it because the majority of it has sold. Thanks, guys! (PS I'm currently flicking between One T's Winter '09 rangebook and writing this and you are in for a treat, it's wicked sticks!)
All our kids labels will be delivering Summer over the next month, so if you're wanting to get your Little Frocker wardrobe together, sit tight!

Sneaky Peaky Summer Preview: Part 1

Winter is awesome. It rains occassionally and then everything smells clean, you can snuggle into the couch in your pjs and watch dvds, sip hot choccies while reading magazines, and layer up in lush knits...mmm.....but there is something to be said for Summer. Aside from, y'know, it's WARM, and you can throw on a sweet frock and slip on comfy flats and just go. It's daylight for longer and you feel more like being healthy and eating fruit. We all know how frustrating it is when, in the murky depths of freezing Julys, the stores start getting in their spring and summer lines. It's stupid, becuase when summer actually comes around these items will be marked down to make way for next winter. But anyway. Due to the MASSIVE response to our mega awesome stocktake sale, we don't have much winter gear left, and thus are jumping on the bandwagon - herein may I present a preview of Summer 08/09: "hippie vintage rock chic" (and if you fit into bikinis, you're in for some real treats)...

First up, the eternally cool One Teaspoon. Remisicient of chilled out Glastonbury styles minus the mud, piss and beer, this range is actually really wearable and a good mix of trend-based pieces and fabulously unique pieces. And the swimwear willl blow your socks off, which is handy, because swimming in socks isn't really recommended.

Obviously a bit too much geek chic-ery going on, and don't stare too long at the bikini model's rib cage or you'll get freaked out, but this range will be stellar and I reckon one of their best yet!

Blue Juice is one of those labels that once you realise just how awesome and well-priced it is, you get completely hooked, and become one of the savage pack of Frockers who pounce on the website at the mere mention of new stock, teeth bared and claws at the ready...(in other words, hot new pieces sell out fast so keep your eyes peeled). This summer they're mixing african tribal colours with middle eastern flavours, and as usual covering everything from party frocks to casual tees to workwear that is anything but boring - they've even done a few knits and jackets which means you can justify buying them in winter! And I have dibs on one of the white Grecian dresses. MINE, I tell you, MINE!

Summer calls for a bright new bag, and if you dn't want to shell out thousands for the latest IT-bag, or even hundreds for your arm-attire because you'd rather buy icy cool daiquiris, then Fanciulla have got you covered. For less somewhere between $50-$120 they've got some fabulously versatile and good lookin' bags, in pretty colours as well as your staple black, tan and white. They've also thoughtfully added "travel partners", not in the form of good looking backpackers, but cabin bags, satchels with loads of pockets and small makeup/jewellery cases!

Birds of a Feather don't do monthly injections year-round like most labels, but it's always worth the wait. This summer, they've called their range "Pretty Things, Peculiar Places" which is enchanting enough, but the range of whimsical frocks, girly tops and cute shorts and skirts is not only wearable but so darn cute! If you can get past the slightly odd see-through shots, you'll see a gorgeous range in simple colours - it'll bring out your girly side!

For those of you who haven't fallen for French Kitty's feminine, youthful and vintage-inspired pieces, check out their summer range of togs for serious woooah factor:

Best taken on a yacht in the Mediterannean. Frocks, tops and shorts work best in a sprawling villa in the French countryside:

Sigh. Must get to the shops and stock up on self-tanning moisturiser. Considering it won't get properly warm here until, erm, late November, it should be plenty of time to get the faux-glow a-workin'.
Part 2 including kidswear, soon!
